Lighthouse Quilt Guild’s Winter Quilt Retreat

32 wonderful ladies took a winter retreat at the Christmas Reform Conference Grounds. This is my second retreat with the group. This time I accomplished much (aside from all the gabbing that is).

Friday I made 3 Tree Skirts. The pattern is called Holly Jolly Christmas Tree Skirt by A Bright Corner. I bought it on for $8.50. The fabric was some of my grandma’s that was handed down to me. I wanted to share it with my family so my mom and dad and my brother and his family both are getting one for Christmas (though they may find out before Christmas if they read my blog). They turned out beautifully!! I still have to quilt them, but I pieced the front and backing together all on Friday. I still have some fabric left and need to figure out what I want to do with it. Any ideas?

I didn’t expect it, but in the end this became my favorite fabric:

Then on Saturday and Sunday I used the Sundara Oasis Fabrics by Dana Designs for Free Spirit to make a Disappearing Hourglass quilt. I have not pieced the blocks together, but between Saturday and Sunday I completed the blocks. Each block is 18 inches. They will be 17.5 inches finished.

This is the border fabric: I love this one. There was not one fabric that I disliked in the line. I only cut one block wrong and was lucky to find out that I had one spare block! Yay!
